Job Title: Operations Manager

This position manages operations related to business needs and programming to serve people with disabilities and caregivers. Property management responsibilities include Colorado facilities (mountain campus, warehouse, office) and assets (vehicles, gear, materials, supplies). Additionally, this position manages cross-departmental projects to create and improve operational systems and procedures, including to meet technology needs and ensure accessibility excellence. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage mountain campus property (near Red Feather Lakes, CO):
Create and train staff in standard operating procedures for campus, and collaborate closely with program staff to provide accountability for standard operating procedures (SOPs), including for turnover of the property between programs
Maintain buildings and equipment (including water pump, plumbing, solar array and power, kitchen appliances, router, AED, bunk beds and mattresses, etc.) and manage contracted maintenance staff
Collaborate with program staff to create campus usage schedule
Plan and manage staff/volunteer work days, including communications with partners
Collaborate with staff to support needs related to campus events and tours
Create plan for response to urgent facilities needs, and support program staff when needs arise
Plan and manage fire mitigation work
Manage road needs including representation on the road association, security gate access, grading
Manage signage needs
Understand accessibility needs and manage projects to meet needs
Manage pest control needs through contracted service
Manage camp set up (May) and take down/winterization (October)
Support the management of building contractors
Collaborate with program staff to manage licensing needs (child care, food service, etc.)
Manage warehouse facility:
Collaborate with program staff to manage all assets in warehouse and kitchen, including inventory and check in/check out system
Provide accountability for warehouse procedures being followed (gear, supplies, materials, signage, equipment)
Manage maintenance and cleanliness of warehouse
Create and provide oversight for key system
Support programs staff with purchase of gear, supplies, and materials
Communicate with staff in other retail spaces as needed
Monitor and respond to pest control needs
Manage vehicles:
Manage maintenance and cleanliness of vehicles (vans and trailers)
Manage sales/donations/rental of vehicles as needed
Coordinate vehicle registration and collaborate with finance to insure vehicles
Collaborate with program staff to create and follow vehicle usage schedule
Manage office facility:
Communicate with tech support to ensure functioning internet and equipment
Communicate with printer/copy machine company to ensure machine functions
Create and manage plan for office cleaning (staff or service)
Copy and track keys
Manage maintenance needs (in conjunction w/ landlord)
Track usage of and purchase office supplies
Coordinate move to new office location
Ensure furniture needs are met
Manage operational accessibility needs:
Research and understand accessibility requirements and best practices
Manage accessibility training needs
Collaborate with program staff to meet programmatic accessibility needs
Manage contracted staff such as consultants and trainers
Manage technology:
Collaborate across departments to understand technology needs
Collaborate with staff to manage technology contractors
Manage technology integration projects
Manage Form Assembly platform training and usage
Provide staff with information to get technology support
Manage inventory of technology equipment (computers and accessories)
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Provide input during the budget development process
Manage budgets and spending related to operations
Collaborate to assess and manage risk across the organization
Contribute to communications, marketing, and fundraising efforts as relevant
Contribute to positive organizational culture through intentional actions
Qualifications:
Experience managing operations related to experiential programming
Experience managing facilities
Proven ability to develop systems and procedures
Analytical skills to assess needs, determine objectives, and manage solutions
Proven ability to work independently and to be accountable
Ability to lead people and collaborative projects
Project management skills with knowledge of systems and tools to manage project deliverables
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to collaborate and manage relationships with staff and contractors
Ability to plan, execute, and manage time effectively
Strong desire to positively impact the lives of people with barriers
Ability to manage budgets and spending
High-level skills using the Google suite, including Google Drive, Docs, and Sheets
Experience with Form Assembly desirable
5 + years relevant work experience
Experience working with people with disabilities, executing adaptive recreation programs, and ensuring accessibility needs are met is highly desirable
Non-profit and/or outdoor recreation/travel/events production industry experience preferred
Outdoor adventure and backcountry skills, including understanding of best practices for outdoor recreation preferred
Education and formal training—
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a field related to communications, education, business management, or equivalent experience in recreation, operations, or related professional field
Work environment—
Based out of the Fort Collins home office requiring use of a computer
Ongoing field work at the NB mountain campus located near Red Feather Lakes, Colorado and at the NB warehouse in south Fort Collins
Option to work remotely some of the time
Occasional field work to support programs
